I moved my website to a new VPS and found that the IP address is blacklisted for email spamming. Is it possible that blacklisted IP will affect the ranking of my website by Google? Can Google penalize my website for it?

It is difficult to predict how Google's search algorithm will react to a blacklisted IP address, as Google never provides clear answers about its search algorithm. However, a blacklisted IP address might likely have an indirect effect on rankings.

If your IP is blacklisted, emails sent from your server may be flagged as spam, which can impact outreach efforts, such as link-building campaigns. This could result in fewer backlinks and potentially harm your rankings. Blacklisted IPs are often associated with malicious activities (e.g., hosting spam, malware, or phishing sites). If Google's crawlers detect such issues on your site, your rankings may decrease, or your site might be flagged as harmful.

Additionally, some blacklists block access to IPs entirely, which could prevent Googlebot and other crawlers from accessing your site. If your site cannot be crawled or indexed, it will drop out of search results. A poor IP reputation is always bad for SEO.

The best strategy for you is to either replace the blacklisted IP address or determine how to remove it from the blacklist.
